Call the PM and Treasurer

This morning, just days after Raise the Rate for Good supporters met with Government Members of Parliament in Canberra, The Australian reported that Government leaders including Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will be meeting this afternoon to finalise their plan for the ongoing rate of Jobseeker Payment.

We need to make sure that the Prime Minister and Treasurer go into those meetings with no doubt in their mind that there is overwhelming community support for a permanent and adequate increase to Jobseeker of at least $25 a day.

Together, this week, our community flooded their offices with 100 calls. But we need to keep up the pressure before they lock in their plans. Can you call their offices now?

I supported the Government's decision to roll out the Coronavirus Supplement last year – it helped so many members of our community. People need every dollar they are getting and more, particularly people who were renting and single parents.

Millions of people who will be directly impacted by this decision are waiting to see whether the Prime Minister will make sure they can cover the essentials while they try to find work and rebuild their lives.

I support permanent and adequate increase to the rate of JobSeeker, Youth Allowance and other income support payments, of at least $25 a day more than the old Newstart rate.

Thank you for your time!
